Design This process can be a lot of fun. We look forward to identifying the needs of a new client and proposing solutions to any challenges that their project may present. 

Owner, Eric Schaefer, prides himself on spending time with each client in order to gain an understanding of their ideas and preferences. Some projects may require nothing more than a simple “sketch”. Others may evolve into multipage plans complete with mockups and planting schedules. We are capable of providing you with any and all of these landscape design services.

Installation A single source for design and installation is the most efficient and hassle-free way to ensure your new landscape is built the way it was designed. Eric personally oversees every project from start to finish. We always take great care to ensure that the highest quality materials are used throughout the process. Everything from boulders, to soil, to native plant material and irrigation system components must be carefully selected.

Eric believes that a well designed and constructed hardscape provides the canvas upon which a quality landscape can then be painted. Well-built hardscapes also offer the benefit of creatively solving drainage and erosion issues that are often present in our local terrain.


Maintenance A quality landscape increases its beauty throughout a lifetime. We strive to pay attention to the details that need care to maximize a landscape’s full potential. Eric and his crew respond quickly to any landscaping questions or concerns.

Our Team

Eric & Ingrid Schaefer

Owners

Owner Eric Schaefer, a native of Tahoe, took the reins of Tahoe Landscaping in 1998 after graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He has worked with hundreds of satisfied clients to create custom landscapes in the Greater North Lake Tahoe and Truckee areas. He brings his knowledge of native plants, sustainability and a keen sense of design to every project.
  

His wife, Ingrid Schaefer, met Eric while also getting her Biology degree from UCSB. Together they forged a lasting relationship within which she provides administrative support and finances for the business. They are proud parents of two kids ages 12 and 15.

Evan & Karen Rehkop

Evan-Foreman; Karen-Project Manager

Evan Rehkop was born and raised in Truckee and has been operating heavy equipment for 25 years. He prides himself on his ability to effortlessly navigate through difficult terrain that many operators would not attempt- No slope is too steep and no rock is too large for him! He is an expert at transforming unusable outdoor spaces into functional living areas, and is known for his expertly crafted rock walls and natural stone staircases. Evan is truly a master of his craft and there is nobody else out there like him!
  
Karen Rehkop is also a Truckee native and has been happily married to Evan for 11 years. She studied Landscape Architecture at UC Davis and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Nevada Reno. She is an outdoor enthusiast, and loves to combine her knowledge of design and horticulture to create both beautiful and functional landscapes.
